Now Hiring: Part-time Victim Assistance Advocate

This position aids victims of criminal offenses and abides by the requirements of the Michigan Crime Victim Rights Act. As the part-time advocate, you will notify victims of their rights, upcoming court hearings, and the results of said hearings by phone, letter, email, or in person. This person will assist victims with understanding their rights listed under the Michigan Crime Victim Rights Act. The person that fills this position will need to have the following skills: organization, computer, compassion, and empathy, as well as the ability to form professional working relationships with law enforcement, attorneys, and the public. A vast portion of work will be performed via phone calls, therefore a proficiency in phone etiquette is necessary. A basic understanding of mathematics will also be required when working with restitution cases. Some job characteristics are not listed as this position works within a fast-paced legal environment and are subject to change.
