Office of Public Conservator

The Office of the Alpena County Public Conservator serves as a professional conservator, guardian, payee, and / or fiduciary when an individual is determined to require outside management of his or her money and assets due to certain reasons, such as a mental illness, mental deficiency, or physical illness / disability. When such an appointment is needed, this office may be selected to act when the individual does not have anyone who is able to serve in that role or when family dynamics are such that a neutral third party is recommended.

The Public Conservator's Office requires a determination to be made by a probate court, the Social Security Administration, and / or the Veteran's Administration in order for such an appointment to be made. If you or someone you care about might need this type of assistance, reach out to any of these organizations for further information.
